IF YOU DRIVE OTHER THAN A 4-WHEEL DRIVE PLEASE CHAIN UP FOR YOUR SAFETY AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD!! EXERCISE CAUTION AT ALL TIMES!!
As it is with road maintenance, Sunburst Drive and Hunter’s Ridge arrange for their snow plowing separate from SRA. Your driveway is your responsibility.
Snow Plowing and Sanding is voluntary by residents with their own maintained snowplows. To help offset volunteer’s time plus equipment and fuel costs, plowing expenses are reimbursed at $85 per hour and sanding at $125 per hour. The Snow Plow Coordinator has forms to be used for keeping track of a volunteers plowing/sanding time. Those forms are submitted to the Snow Plow Coordinator within 30 days after the plowing sanding has been done. The Snow Plow Coordinator is responsible for verifying and coordinating plowing/sanding efforts, and will forward approved forms to the SRA Treasurer for payment. Before reimbursements can be made, a W9 for the plower/sander must be submitted to the current SRA Treasurer unless the plower/sander is a business entity.
The hill is the priority for plowing and is done before the remaining portions of the road. Plowing is performed based on the availability of snowplow operators. In long and large storms we will do the best we can but expect the road to be in bad condition during such times. There can be times when you will find the road slick and even impassable. If you live here long enough there will be times when you are unable to get in or out. You should also expect a narrow driving lane if snow builds up.
Sanding is done only from Young’s Corner down to the highway. Sanding is done on the basis of road condition and availability of the volunteer sand truck operators. Icy conditions occur rapidly with weather and snow conditions that change quickly and with traffic on the road. Sanding is not always available so please use caution. Chains or studded snow tires may be necessary.
Please remember the ones snow plowing and sanding are doing the best they can, based on conditions, their availability, and equipment contingencies. If the plowing is not getting done when or how you wish, you have the option of getting out your own plow and joining the effort.
